D Gordon Franks is a baby boomer, a former Marine, and a Viet-Nam veteran.

He has written numerous short stories and a memoir. In the scant space of four short summers, he witnessed first-hand the Detroit riots of 1967. The following summer he and other hippies were arrested in Chicago at the Democratic National Convention.  In the summer of 1969, he endured Marine Corps boot camp. Finally, in 1970 he was in the sweltering jungles of South Vietnam trying to stay alive. 

From Viet-Nam he traded in his jungle boots for platform shoes.  Instead of a jeeps, he rode around in Cadillacs wearing tailor made suits and diamond rings.  He strove to be in control and dominate his chosen profession. The street-life has various pitfalls and traps and he is lured into them willingly.  He fought the PO-lice, courts and drug addiction and survived partially in order to write this story as no one else could or has.

After a forty year hiatus, he returned to college and obtained a degree cum laude.  He now lives quietly and tries to maintain contact with his former associates.  He is the author of the critically acclaimed novel and soon to be a major motion picture, “Dillinger and Youngblood’s Wooden Gun.”  Which is available at www.DGordonFranks.com.  He is currently working on the 2nd book of the Ladies Man trilogy.
